How to play gin rummy

  1. Each player gets 10 cards. On your turn, draw one card — from the face-down stock or the top of the discard pile.
  2. Then discard one card face up.
  3. Build melds: sets of 3–4 cards of the same rank, or runs of 3+ cards in a row of the same suit.
  4. Cards not in a meld are deadwood. When your deadwood totals 10 points or less, you can knock to end the hand. With zero deadwood, you go gin.
